Why is cleansing your face so important?
Appropriate facial cleansing is the best recipe for beautiful and healthy skin, but remember to do it regularly, twice a day, both in the morning and evening, and to use cosmetics dedicated strictly to the needs of our skin. Cleansing the skin allows you to get rid of makeup remnants, excess sebum and any impurities accumulated on the surface of the skin - it is, therefore, nothing but freeing it from anything that can clog pores and make it stop breathing.
Some women believe that daily make-up removal involves only removing makeup remnants from the skin surface. Meanwhile, makeup removal is a procedure that has a much deeper meaning. It should be used by all ladies, regardless of their age and skin type, including those who do not use coloured cosmetics on a daily basis. Daily make-up removal is a great way to cleanse the skin, remove impurities and bacteria responsible for the appearance of imperfections on the face and prepare it for further skin care. What's more, properly made face and eye makeup remover can protect us from the rapidly progressing ageing process of the skin, caused by the negative effects of weather conditions or the harmful effects of solar radiation.
After the cleansing process, especially if strong drying cosmetics were in use, the pH of the skin increases, which means that its natural water-lipid coat may be damaged. The use of the tonic restores the skin's natural, slightly acidic pH. Thanks to this, it is better protected. The reduced pH also has antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition to restoring the right pH level, the tonic refreshes and maintains an adequate level of hydration. As a result, the skin becomes more elastic and ready to receive creams after. Some tonics, due to the content of specific ingredients, can affect the faster regeneration of the skin, e.g. after sunbathing, others narrow the enlarged pores, reduce seborrhea or gently brighten discolouration.
When choosing a tonic, we must, first of all, take into account the needs of our skin. After cleansing the skin, apply a small amount of tonic on the face, neck and décolleté with a cotton pad or - if the product has it - with an atomizer. In the ingredients of such tonics, we usually find hyaluronic acid (deeply moisturizes and improves the firming and elasticity of the epidermis, additionally delays the ageing process of the skin) and glycerin (long-lasting moisturizing).
