Treatment Contraindications
Contraindications to the procedure
Any existing medical condition that may put the patient at risk if the procedure is performed is a contraindication. There are four types of contraindications. These are viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. Another contraindication is certain medications that the patient may be taking, such as blood thinners or topical steroids, which can thin the skin. This, for example, would be a contraindication to waxing as the skin in this area would be thinner and more prone to bruising or wounds. There will be two categories of contraindications that you should be familiar with: preventive or restrictive contraindications. Each case should be assessed individually and dealt with according to its seriousness.
